UMEKITA HAPPY HOUR, a new evening event from Knowledge Capital, runs today, Wednesday Oct 21, from 17:00 to 23:00 at Knowledge Plaza on the first floor of the Grand Front Osaka North Building. Entry is free. Food and drink are paid.
The official page lists three parts: a local food yatai, a “ウルトラ対流酒場” (an ultra-mixing bar) where about 30 people from companies, the arts and education act as one-night bar masters, and UMEKITA NIGHT GROOVE, with DJs who are office workers and a participatory live set. The official timetable (an image) puts Argentine tango by Tango Grelio, bandoneon and guitar, at 17:20-17:50, bunraku around 18:00 and again from 20:00 with commentary, the bar-masters session with workers’ DJ time in between, and Minyo Crusaders from about 21:00. The food yatai are charted from 17:00 to about 22:30, and last-order times vary by stall.
The organizers are the Knowledge Capital association and KMO, sponsored by Suntory Holdings and supported by the Osaka Tourism Bureau. A free first drink for the first 500 workers in the Umekita area is announced; it is for those workers, not everyone. The programme may change, so check the official page on the day.
