Wicked on Halloween, dinosaurs the next evening, and no cinema ticket to buy. Outdoor Life Festa 2026 is bringing free night screenings to Rohto Heart Square Umekita in Grand Green Osaka on October 31 and November 1. Both start at 18:00, with no reservation required.
Saturday's film is Wicked, listed in Japanese as ウィキッド ふたりの魔女. Sunday brings Jurassic World Rebirth, or The cinema is at the Grand Green Osaka venue, not Grand Front Osaka's Umekita Plaza. The festival uses both places; the films do not.
Free entry is not an all-inclusive ticket
The wider event runs from 11:00 on both days. Grand Front's venue closes at 18:00, while Grand Green's programme is advertised until 20:00. Twenty-one tenants are involved across the two sites, with music, workshops, a market and food and drink sales.
Some activities are free; others cost money or need advance booking. The official programme lists CHUMS bracelet-making at ¥550 and KEEPGREEN OSAKA's moss-ball workshop at ¥1,200, both including tax. ARC'TERYX's free upcycling workshop requires registration with its official LINE account. THE NORTH FACE+ repair workshop is free but requires advance booking. A free festival headline is not a promise that every stall is free or immediately available.
The repair element is worth a look even if another outdoor purchase is not. The programme describes supported self-repair, including sewing and heat-press work on damaged clothing. Check the activity's own booking details before bringing something you expect to get fixed; this is not a blanket repair guarantee.
Halloween, without the costume
One easily missed rule matters this weekend: the organisers ask visitors not to come in costume, for safety and consideration of others. This is a film and outdoor-lifestyle event taking place on Halloween, not a costume party.
The FAQ also says spaces for a stage or cinema can only be held after the preceding stage finishes. Some activities may restrict entry when full. No reservation does not guarantee a seat, and no seating type or English-subtitle/Japanese-dub arrangement was confirmed in the official material I checked.
Rain alone will not stop the festival, but severe weather can. Changes to hours or cancellation will be announced on its website or social accounts. Check before leaving, go to the correct square, and treat 18:00 as the screening start rather than a reason to assume space will still be waiting.
